Damien Rice is an Irish singer-songwriter and musician from Dublin, Ireland. He is best known for his critically acclaimed debut album, O, and its single "The Blower's Daughter".

Rice grew up in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. He attended Dublin’s College of Music where he studied classical music and jazz. After graduating, Rice joined the band Juniper, which he left in 1998.

Rice began his solo career in 2001 when he released his debut EP, The Blower’s Daughter, on his own label, Heffa. The EP was met with critical acclaim and was followed by the release of his debut album, O, in February 2002. The album was an international success, reaching number eight on the UK Albums Chart and number 22 on the US Billboard 200. It was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and earned Rice two Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting.

In 2004, Rice released his second album, 9, which was met with mixed reviews. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 19 on the UK Albums Chart and number 41 on the US Billboard 200.

Rice’s third album, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, was released in 2014. The album was met with critical acclaim and reached number seven on the UK Albums Chart and number 44 on the US Billboard 200. The lead single, "I Don’t Want To Change You", was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance.

Rice has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Lisa Hannigan, David Gray, Jack White, and The Corrs. He has performed at a number of festivals, including Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, and Coachella.

Rice has been nominated for numerous awards, including two Brit Awards and two Grammy Awards. He has also been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for his song "The Blower’s Daughter".
