Chris Tarrant is an English television and radio presenter. He is one of the most recognisable faces in the British media, having presented and hosted several successful game shows, such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, TISWAS, and Capital Breakfast.

Tarrant was born in Reading, Berkshire, in 1946, and educated at Uppingham School and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. After leaving the army in 1968, he joined the BBC as a trainee, working on local radio and television programmes. He then moved to London to become a reporter, and later a presenter, for the popular magazine show Thames News.

Tarrant's career took off in the 1980s when he became the host of the hit game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? from 1998 to 2014. The show was incredibly popular and made Tarrant a household name. He also hosted the children's show TISWAS and the breakfast show Capital Breakfast, both of which ran for many years.

In addition to his television success, Tarrant is a popular radio broadcaster. He has hosted the weekday morning show on Capital FM since 1985, as well as the Sunday morning show, The Chris Tarrant Show. He has also presented shows on BBC Radio 2 and various other radio stations.

Tarrant has won a number of awards, including an honorary degree from the University of Southampton in 2000, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Television Awards in 2006. He was appointed an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2006.

Outside of his media career, Tarrant is an avid supporter of several charities, including the British Heart Foundation, NSPCC, and Cancer Research UK. He is also a patron of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

In his personal life, Tarrant has been married four times and has four children. He is a keen sailor and golfer and has written two books.
