Cesar Gracie is a Brazilian-American Jiu-Jitsu instructor and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He is best known for being the founder of the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in California, which has produced many world champions in MMA.

Gracie was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1967. Growing up, he had a strong interest in martial arts, training in both judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was eventually awarded a black belt in both disciplines.

In 1992, Gracie moved to San Francisco, California, where he opened the first Gracie Academy in the United States. Gracie dedicated himself to teaching the art of Jiu-Jitsu to the world, and in doing so, he revolutionized the sport of MMA.

Gracie trained many fighters, including his brother Renzo Gracie, who became a champion in multiple martial arts disciplines. He also trained Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, Nate Diaz, and many others.

In addition to his academy, Gracie also competed in MMA fights himself. He fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Strikeforce, compiling a record of 3-2 in both organizations. He also won the Pan American Championship in 1999.

Gracie is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. His academy has produced many world champions and has become a model for other Jiu-Jitsu schools around the world.

Gracie is also the author of several books on the subject of Jiu-Jitsu, including the popular “Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Manual” and “How to Defend Yourself in a Fight.” He has also released instructional DVDs and online courses.

In addition to teaching, Gracie is also an entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Gracie University, an online educational platform for Jiu-Jitsu students, and the Gracie Store, an online store offering products related to the martial art.
