Carlye Rubin grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised by her parents, who both worked in the film industry. She developed an interest in films and television at an early age and went on to study film and television at Columbia College Chicago. She graduated from college in 1994.

After graduation, Carlye Rubin moved to Los Angeles and began her career as a production assistant. The film was well-received by critics and was a moderate success at the box office. In 2016, she directed her second feature 'The Unseen', which was an even bigger success. Her latest film, the thriller 'The Girl in the Shadows', is set to be released in 2021.

In addition to directing films and television shows, Carlye Rubin has also been involved in various philanthropic projects. She is a member of the Directors Guild of America’s Women’s Steering Committee, and she is also the Co-Founder of The Hollywood Mentor Program, which is a program that helps young women in the film and television industry.
