Carlos Segundo



Carlos Segundo is a renowned film director, writer, and editor from the Dominican Republic. He is best known for his work on films such as El Muro (The Wall, 2006) and The Setting Sun (2015).

Segundo was born in 1966 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and showed an early interest in film. At the age of 12, he started experimenting with a Super 8 camera that he had purchased. He soon began making short films with his friends, and eventually went on to attend film school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City.

Segundo’s first feature-length film, El Muro, was released in 2006 and immediately gained critical acclaim. The film, which tells the story of a group of teenagers living in a poor neighborhood in the Dominican Republic, won several awards, including the Grand Prix at the Biarritz International Film Festival.

Segundo’s follow-up feature, The Setting Sun, was released in 2015. The film tells the story of a young woman who returns to her childhood home in the Dominican Republic after living in the United States for several years. The film was well-received by critics and was nominated for several awards, including Best Latin American Film at the Havana Film Festival.

Aside from his work in film, Segundo is also a prolific writer and editor. He has written several books, including the novel El Muro (The Wall, 2011) and the collection of short stories La Sombra de la Lluvia (The Shadow of the Rain, 2014). He has also edited several documentaries, including the award-winning Los Hijos de la Tierra (The Children of the Earth, 2014).

Segundo is a passionate advocate for social activism and has been involved in several causes throughout his career. He has spoken out against racism and discrimination, and has also worked to raise awareness and funds for environmental causes.

Today, Segundo continues to make films and write books. He is currently working on a new feature film, as well as a documentary about the Dominican Republic. He is also continuing his work as a social activist, working to promote awareness and understanding of issues such as immigration, poverty, and climate change.
