Blair Gershkow (born February 5, 1983) is an American director, writer, and producer. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed films “The Spectacular Now” and “The End of the Tour”.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Gershkow was raised in a nurturing and supportive environment. His parents encouraged his artistic endeavors from an early age, and he eventually went on to attend the University of Southern California where he graduated with a degree in cinema-television production.
Gershkow got his start in the film industry as a production assistant in various commercial projects. He then went on to work as an assistant director on a number of productions, including the independent film “The Good Humor Man” and the documentary “Lost in the Shadows”.
In 2011, Gershkow made his feature-length directorial debut with the romantic comedy-drama “The Spectacular Now”, which was released to critical acclaim. The film was a box office success, and earned Gershkow a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director.
Gershkow then went on to direct the drama “The End of the Tour”, which starred Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segel. The film was based on David Foster Wallace’s book “Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself” and was released in 2015 to critical praise. Gershkow was also nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director for this film.
Gershkow has since gone on to direct the Netflix film “To the Bone”, as well as episodes of the Hulu series “The Path”. He is currently in pre-production for his upcoming film “The Sunlit Night”, which is based on the novel of the same name.
Gershkow is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and his work has been praised for its emotionally honest depictions of human relationships.
