Ben Neufeld is an award-winning American film director and producer from Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his work on the 2018 feature film, "The House with a Clock in its Walls," starring Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, and Kyle MacLachlan.
Neufeld was born in 1976 in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in film and television production in 1999. After graduating, he worked various jobs, including as a production assistant, a music video director, and a producer for reality television. In 2003, Neufeld directed his first feature film, “The Whirlwind,” which won the Best Foreign Film award at the 2004 Seattle International Film Festival.
Neufeld then went on to direct the feature film “The House with a Clock in Its Walls” in 2018. The film, based on the book by John Bellairs, grossed over $100 million at the box office and was praised by critics for its special effects and performances. Neufeld also directed and produced the horror-thriller “The Devil Inside” in 2011, which grossed $53 million at the box office and was nominated for 2 Saturn Awards.
Neufeld has also directed a number of music videos for artists such as The Killers, 30 Seconds to Mars, and The Offspring. He has also directed commercials and short films, including “The Last Day of Summer” (2008) which won Best Short Film at the 2009 Newport Beach Film Festival.
