Aleksei Chaly is a Russian actor who is best known for his roles in films like "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!", "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed" and "The Drivers". He was born on August 5th, 1941 in Moscow and grew up with his parents and older brother.

Chaly began his acting career at the Moscow Art Theater in 1960. His first major role was in the 1966 film “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” which was a major success and made him a household name in Russia. He followed this success with roles in other films like “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed” and “The Drivers”.

In the early 1970s, Chaly began to concentrate more on theatre and starred in several plays at the Moscow Art Theater including “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Three Sisters”. His performance in the latter earned him the prestigious Golden Mask Award. He also directed several plays including “Huck Finn” and “Romeo and Juliet”.

Chaly continued to appear in films like “The Return of the Musketeers” and “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson” as well as television series such as “Boris Godunov”. He has also appeared in several Russian films such as “The Barber of Siberia” and “The Star”.

Chaly is a highly respected and sought after actor in Russia. He has been honored with the People’s Artist of the RSFSR award in 1983 and the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 2002. He has also been honored with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
