Valeria Testagrossa is an Italian film director, screenwriter, and producer. She is best known for her critically acclaimed award-winning films such as Il Parto (The Birth, 2002) and La Stanza Del Figlio (The Son's Room, 2001).

Valeria was born in Rome in 1965. She studied film direction at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, and later attended the Film and Television School at the University of Southern California. Upon graduating, Valeria worked as a director's assistant for acclaimed Italian director Nanni Moretti, and as a scriptwriter for Rai television.

In 1997, Valeria wrote, directed, and produced her first short film, La Vita è Bella (Life is Beautiful). The film was an immediate success and won several awards at international film festivals. This success was followed by her feature film debut, La Stanza Del Figlio, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. The film was a critical and commercial success and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Valeria then directed Il Parto, a drama about a woman's struggle to achieve her dream of becoming a mother. The film was a critical and commercial success and won numerous awards, including the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Valeria also wrote and directed several other films, including Romeo e Giulietta (Romeo and Juliet, 2006) and La Vita è Bella 2 (Life is Beautiful 2, 2011).

In addition to directing films, Valeria has also served as a jury member for numerous film festivals, including the Venice Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. She has also been a guest lecturer at film schools in Italy and abroad.
