Tom DeSimone is an American director, writer, and producer who has been active in the film industry since the late 1960s. He is best known for his work on the cult classic, The Changeling (1980) and his involvement in the popular comedy series, Three’s Company (1977-1984).

DeSimone was born in New York City on June 15, 1940. He attended the University of Miami, where he studied film and television production. After graduating, he began his career as a television director, working on shows such as The Mod Squad and Kojak. He then moved into feature film directing with the 1975 released, Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers.

In 1977, DeSimone was hired to direct the pilot of the hit ABC sitcom Three’s Company. The show was an instant success and DeSimone directed the first five episodes. He also served as an executive producer and director for the show until it ended in 1984.

In 1980, DeSimone directed The Changeling, a haunted house horror film starring George C. Scott. The film was a box office success and has since become a cult classic. DeSimone went on to direct several other horror films, including Hell Night (1981), Critters 3 (1991), and Witchcraft (1992).

DeSimone also wrote and directed the comedy films Reform School Girls (1986) and Trick or Treat (1986). He also wrote and directed the television movie Class Cruise (1989). In the late 1980s, DeSimone moved into producing, producing films such as The Substitute (1996) and The Rage (1997).

Throughout his career, DeSimone has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, such as John Ritter, Steve Railsback, and George C. Scott. He has also been recognised for his work, being nominated for the CableACE Award for Best Dramatic Special for Class Cruise in 1989.

DeSimone continues to work in the film industry today, and is currently working on a remake of the cult classic The Changeling. He is also a member of the Directors Guild of America.
