Toby Oppenheimer is an award-winning director who has been working in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He is known for his work on films such as “Donnie Darko”, “The Dark Knight”, and “The Hangover”.
Oppenheimer was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he studied film and television production. After graduating, he worked as an assistant editor and then production assistant on a number of feature films, including “The Waterboy” and “Collateral Damage”.
In 2002, Oppenheimer made his directorial debut with the psychological thriller “Donnie Darko”, which was released to critical acclaim and became a cult classic. Following the success of “Donnie Darko”, Oppenheimer went on to direct the 2005 crime drama “The Dark Knight” starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. The film was a box office success and was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning two.
In 2009, Oppenheimer directed the comedy “The Hangover”, which also became a box office hit and spawned two sequels. His next directorial project was the 2012 science fiction film “Looper”, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis.
In addition to his work in film, Oppenheimer has also directed several television shows, including “The Good Place” and “Friends with Better Lives”. He is currently directing the upcoming Netflix series “The Society” and is also developing a feature film adaptation of the popular video game “Halo”.
