Tobias Lindholm is a Danish screenwriter, director, and producer who has established himself as one of the leading names in Danish cinema. Born in Copenhagen in 1982, he began his career as a writer, scripting a number of short films and television series before starting to direct.

His first feature, R (2010), a tense drama about a young girl struggling with her parents’ divorce, earned him critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. He followed up with the tense crime drama A Hijacking (2012), which was nominated for a number of international awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.

In 2015, Lindholm released the critically acclaimed A War (Krigen), a drama about a Danish soldier who faces a difficult decision while on leave in Afghanistan. The film earned him a Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Film Festival, as well as a nomination for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Lindholm has also directed several television series, including the hit Danish political drama Borgen (2010-2013), which won several awards and was broadcast in over 100 countries. He also directed the first season of the acclaimed Netflix series The Rain (2018), which was nominated for numerous awards.

In 2019, Lindholm released his most ambitious project to date: the epic drama The Hunt (Jagten), which tells the story of a man accused of a terrible crime and the ensuing trial. The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, and won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
