BIO

Tim Kirby is an American film director, cinematographer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on films such as The Purge: Anarchy, Pacific Rim Uprising, and the upcoming Mortal Kombat.

Kirby was born in Los Angeles, California. He began his career working as a production assistant and camera assistant. From there he moved into directing music videos, commercials, and short films.

Kirby's first big break came in 2014 when he directed and co-wrote The Purge: Anarchy, which earned him an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films Saturn Award nomination for Best Horror Film. He would go on to direct the sequel The Purge: Election Year in 2016.

In 2018, Kirby directed the science fiction epic Pacific Rim Uprising, which was a box office success. He also wrote the story for the film, and worked with the special effects team to create the look and feel of the movie.

In 2020, Kirby was announced as the director of the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, based on the popular video game. He is also set to direct another science fiction/action movie titled The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
