BIO

Tim Armstrong is an American music executive, entrepreneur, and director. He is best known as the former chairman and CEO of AOL, the chairman of Oath, and the CEO of the Dentsu Aegis Network. Armstrong began his career in the music industry, working at the independent label SpinArt Records in New York City. He then became a founding partner of the music label, Launch Media, which was eventually acquired by Yahoo.

After Launch Media, Armstrong joined Google in 2000, where he was responsible for developing and launching Google's advertising products. He then joined AOL as CEO in 2009. At AOL, Armstrong led a major restructuring effort, resulting in the sale of many of their divisions, including the Huffington Post and TechCrunch. He also led AOL through its acquisition of The Huffington Post.

In 2017, Armstrong left AOL and joined Verizon Communications as the Chairman of their newly created Oath division, which includes media properties such as Yahoo, AOL, and TechCrunch. He also serves as the CEO of the Dentsu Aegis Network, a global media agency.

In addition to his executive roles, Armstrong has been a director on the boards of several companies, including XO Group, Pandora, and the advertising firm WPP. He is also a director on the board of the nonprofit organization, the Ad Council.

Armstrong has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career, including the Advertising Age Digital A-List Award in 2014 and Adweek's MediaVisionary of the Year award in 2015. He has also been featured in numerous publications, including Fortune Magazine, Fast Company, and Business Week.

Armstrong is passionate about giving back to the community and has launched several initiatives to support entrepreneurs and startups. He is also an active mentor to young entrepreneurs through various programs, including the AOL Mentorship Program.

In his spare time, Armstrong enjoys spending time with his family, running, and playing golf. He is also a passionate music fan and has been a fan of the band U2 since his teenage years.
