Thomas Gibson is an American actor and director best known for his roles in the television series Criminal Minds and Dharma & Greg. He was born on July 3, 1962 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Gibson studied drama at the College of Charleston, and then went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. His professional acting career began in 1986 with a role in the television movie, The Burning Bed. He also had a role in the television series Another World in 1988.

Throughout the 1990s, Gibson had numerous roles in television shows and films, including roles in the series Chicago Hope, Dharma & Greg, and Ally McBeal. He also had roles in the films The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, and What Women Want.

In 2005, Gibson began starring in the hit CBS drama series Criminal Minds. He played the role of FBI Special Agent Aaron Hotchner for eleven seasons. After leaving the show in 2016, Gibson joined the cast of the CBS drama series Doubt in 2017.

In addition to acting, Gibson has had a successful career as a director. He has directed several episodes of Criminal Minds as well as episodes of other television shows such as The Closer, Las Vegas, and The Protector.

In addition to his acting and directing career, Gibson is also a philanthropist and an advocate for animal rights. He is an active supporter of the animal rights organization, PETA, and has been featured on the cover of PETA’s magazine.
