Thibault Staib is a French director, producer, and writer known for his work in film, television, and theater. He is most well-known for directing the 2018 film Aurore, which won the 2020 César Award for Best First Feature Film.

Staib was born in 1985 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He studied at the prestigious French film school La Fémis, where he graduated in 2011. During his time at the school, he directed several short films, including the award-winning "Les Amants de l’Été" (The Lovers of Summer).

Following his graduation, Staib began his career as a director working on various television projects, including the series "Les Revenants" (The Returned), which was nominated for an International Emmy Award in 2014. He also directed the feature film "L’Étudiante et Monsieur Henri" (The Student and Mr. Henri), for which he won the César Award for Best First Feature Film in 2016.

In 2018, Staib released his second feature film, Aurore. The film tells the story of Aurore, a young woman living in a small village in northern France, who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her mother. The film was critically acclaimed, and won the 2020 César Award for Best First Feature Film.

Staib has also directed two short films, "Un Homme à la Mer" (A Man at Sea) in 2019, and "L’Espoir" (Hope) in 2020. He is currently working on a number of new projects, including a feature film about a group of teenagers in the French countryside.
