BIO

Teemu Leppälä is a Finnish producer, author, and sea captain whose life and work are deeply shaped by decades spent at sea. He has crossed vast oceans, entered countless ports, and experienced the full spectrum of the sea’s changing moods, from calm horizons to violent storms. The ocean has been both his profession and his lifelong companion, influencing how he understands the world and humanity’s place within it.

Holding a Master’s degree in Marine Science and drawing on many years of maritime experience, Teemu has an intimate understanding of the rhythm of ships and the importance of trust when surrounded only by sea and sky. He listens to the language of the ocean and translates that knowledge into his storytelling, grounded in lived experience rather than abstraction.

As an author, he has written nearly ten books, many inspired by the sea, ice, and characters shaped by extreme natural environments. His writing often explores the relationship between human beings and the elements, examining how the ocean, the Arctic, and the unknown influence identity, resilience, and desire.

Through his work as a producer and writer, Teemu Leppälä continues to explore what lies beneath the surface, of water, of nature, and of the human spirit. His voice as a creator is marked by authenticity, observation, and a persistent curiosity about our connection to the world around us.
