Stig Andersen is an award-winning Danish film director and screenwriter, best known for his feature films 'The Inheritance' and 'The Art of Crying'.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1957, Stig Andersen's interest in filmmaking began early in life. He was introduced to the world of film, television and theater at an early age through his father's work. After graduating from the Danish National Film School in 1981, he began his career as a film editor, working on several shorts and feature-length films.

In 1992, Andersen released his first feature film, 'The Inheritance'. The film was a success, receiving several awards at international film festivals, including the Grand Prix for Best Feature Film at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film also earned Andersen his first BAFTA nomination for Best Director.

In 2003, Andersen released his second feature film, 'The Art of Crying'. The film was another critical and commercial success, earning Andersen a BAFTA nomination for Best Director and a nomination for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Andersen's third feature film, 'Rent a Family Inc.', was released in 2012. The film was a critical success, earning Andersen a Danish Academy Award for Best Director.
