BIO

Steve MacCorkle is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and editor. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed films American Splendor (2003), The Station Agent (2003), and Little Miss Sunshine (2006).

MacCorkle was born to an Irish-American family in 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in a working-class neighborhood and attended Boston University, where he majored in film and theater. During his time at BU, he wrote and directed several short films which were shown at various film festivals.

After graduating, MacCorkle moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in filmmaking. He started out as an assistant editor on the TV series Judging Amy and then worked as a production assistant on the films Ocean's Eleven (2001) and The Italian Job (2003). He also wrote and directed several short films, including the award-winning A Moment in Time (2003).

MacCorkle's big break came in 2003 with the release of his first feature film, American Splendor, which was critically acclaimed and earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was a commercial success and helped to launch his career.

In 2004, MacCorkle wrote and directed the independent film The Station Agent, which starred Peter Dinklage and was a critical and commercial success. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe and won numerous awards.

MacCorkle's next film, Little Miss Sunshine (2006), was a huge success and earned him two Academy Award nominations. The film was a critical and commercial success and won numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

MacCorkle has also directed the films Sunshine Cleaning (2008) and The Details (2011). In 2013, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the TV series Enlightened.
