Stefan Paul is a German film director, writer, and producer. He is best known for directing the critically acclaimed films Der Untergang (2004) and The Reader (2008).

Paul was born in Berlin in 1969. As a child, he was always interested in the arts, and he studied sculpture and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. At the same time, he began to develop a passion for film, and he eventually decided to pursue a career in filmmaking.

Paul’s first feature film was Der Untergang, a drama based on the final days of Adolf Hitler. The film was released in 2004 and was well-received by critics and audiences alike, earning numerous awards. Following the success of Der Untergang, Paul directed The Reader, another critically acclaimed drama, which was released in 2008. The film earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director.

In addition to his work as a director, Paul has written and produced several films, including the romantic comedy Sommer in Berlin (2007) and the award-winning drama The White Ribbon (2009). He has also directed a number of television films, including the crime drama Fall of the Berlin Wall (2012).
