BIO

Stefan Hunt is an Australian film director, writer and producer. He has been involved in the film industry since the 1990s and has directed several successful independent films, including the award-winning feature film The Tunnel.

Hunt was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1976. He was raised in a working-class family, where his parents encouraged him to pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker. After attending a local film school, Hunt went on to work in the local film industry for several years. During this time he worked on a variety of film projects, including television commercials, music videos and short films.

In 2001, Hunt wrote and directed his first feature film, The Tunnel. The film was a critical and commercial success, earning him several awards, including an AFI nomination for Best Film. The film was also selected for the Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Grand Prize.

In the years since The Tunnel, Hunt has continued to write, direct and produce independent films. His next feature film, The Reef, was released in 2006 and earned him another AFI nomination. He subsequently wrote and directed the coming-of-age drama The Tree, which was released in 2009.

In addition to his work in film, Hunt has also directed several television programs, including the popular Australian drama series The Secret Life of Us. He has also directed several documentaries, including the award-winning Children of the Sea, which focused on the plight of child refugees.

Hunt's latest project is the upcoming feature film The Last Resort, which is currently in post-production. The film focuses on the lives of a group of young backpackers who find themselves stranded on a remote island.
