Seth Breedlove is an American filmmaker, writer, and producer. He is the founder and CEO of Small Town Monsters, a production company that produces documentary-style films about mysterious creatures and phenomena that are part of American folklore.
Born in 1988, Seth was raised in upstate New York. As a child, he was inspired by the documentaries of the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. After high school, Seth attended Syracuse University, majoring in film production and minoring in anthropology. His academic pursuits were bolstered by a variety of internships, including those at the Seneca Falls Historical Society, the Cayuga Museum of History and Art, and the Finger Lakes Film & Video Festival.
In 2014, Seth released his first feature-length documentary, The Mothman of Point Pleasant. The film tells the story of a mysterious creature that appeared in the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in the mid-1960s. The film was an immediate success, gaining attention from major media outlets and spawning two follow-up documentaries, Boggy Creek Monster and The Flatwoods Monster.
Seth followed up these initial successes with the release of his first feature-length fiction film, The Wailing Woods. The film follows a group of ghost hunters who investigate a terrifying forest in the Appalachian Mountains. The film was a critical success, earning Seth a nomination for Best Picture at the 2017 Austin Fantastic Fest, as well as a nomination for Best Director at the 2017 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
