BIO

Seb Karamyar is an Iranian-born American director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for writing and directing the acclaimed film “The Flicker,” which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Karamyar was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1975. He attended the Tehran University of Art, graduating with a degree in Film and Television Production. He then moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to pursue his passion for filmmaking.

Karamyar began his career working as an assistant director on a number of independent films. He then wrote and directed his first feature film, “The Flicker,” in 2005. The film was a critical success, garnering rave reviews and an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Karamyar then wrote and directed a series of short films, including “The War of the Roses” and “The Rise of the Phoenix.” He also wrote and directed the feature film “The Promise,” which earned him a nomination for Best Screenplay at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.

In 2010, Karamyar wrote and directed his second feature film, “The Beat Goes On,” which was released to critical acclaim. The film was nominated for Best Narrative Feature at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.

In 2013, Karamyar wrote and directed the feature film “A Thousand Miles Away.” The film was a box office success, and earned Karamyar a nomination for Best Director at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.

Karamyar’s latest project is the feature film “The Journey.” The film is a story about the struggles of a family in a war-torn country, and is set to be released in 2021.

Throughout his career, Karamyar has earned numerous awards and accolades, including nominations from the Academy Awards, the Tribeca Film Festival, and the Independent Spirit Awards.
