Sé Merry Doyle (born 1968) is an Irish documentary filmmaker and television director. He is known for his work on the television series 'Mystics & Miracles' and 'Beo'. He is also the director of several documentaries on Irish history, culture and music.
Doyle was born in Dublin, Ireland, and studied at University College Dublin, where he earned a BA in history and political science. After graduating, he worked as a television researcher for RTÉ, the Irish public broadcaster. He then went on to direct several documentaries, including 'The Ballad of St. Patrick', 'The Story of the Irish Famine' and 'The Irish Revolution'.
In 2006, Doyle directed the documentary series 'Mystics & Miracles', which followed the lives of five Irish mystics and religious figures. The series was critically acclaimed and Doyle was nominated for an Irish Film and Television Award for his work on the series.
In 2010, he directed 'Beo', a documentary series about traditional Irish music. The series featured performances from some of the country's most popular folk, traditional and rock musicians. The series was a hit and Doyle's work was praised by critics.
In addition to his work in television and film, Doyle has directed several award-winning theatre productions. In 2011, he directed the Irish Repertory Theatre's production of 'The Crucible', which earned him a nomination for a Tony Award.
Doyle is also a prolific writer and has written several books on Irish history and culture. His books include 'The Story of Ireland' and 'The Irish Revolution'.
Doyle is a passionate advocate for the Irish arts and culture and is a long-time supporter of the Irish Film and Television Academy. He is also a strong supporter of Irish music and has appeared as a guest performer at several Irish festivals and events.
