Sari Raissa Lluch Dalena is an independent filmmaker, writer, and director from the Philippines. She is known for her critically acclaimed films, such as “Taklub” (2015) and “Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon” (2018).

Dalena was born in the province of Quezon in the Philippines. She graduated from the University of the Philippines – Diliman in 2009 with a degree in mass communication. During her time in school, Dalena was already making films, and her student films were often shown in the Cinemalaya film festival.

In 2010, Dalena’s first feature film “Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha” (The Family That Does Not Cry) was released. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it won several awards including the Cinemalaya’s Audience Choice Award and the Gawad Urian’s Best Picture Award.

In 2015, Dalena released “Taklub”, a drama about a group of survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. The film was well-received and won several awards, including the Gawad Urian for Best Picture.

In 2018, Dalena released her third feature film “Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon” (How to Wait for the Dawn). The film was a critical and commercial success, and it won several awards, including the Gawad Urian for Best Picture.

Dalena has also written and directed several short films, such as “Minsan sa Buwan” (Sometimes in the Moon), “Kapatiran” (Brotherhood), and “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” (2012).

Dalena’s works are known for their focus on strong female characters and stories about poverty, displacement, and natural disasters. She is a vocal advocate for women’s rights and continues to speak out about social issues through her films.
