BIO

Salvo Lucchese is an acclaimed Italian director, screenwriter, and producer. He has written and directed several feature films, short films, and documentaries.

Salvo was born in Palermo, Sicily in 1973. He studied film direction at the University of Palermo, graduating in 1995. After graduation, he worked as an assistant director on several films.

In 2001, Salvo directed his first feature film, 'Una Vita Difficile' (A Difficult Life). The film tells the story of a young Sicilian woman living in the 1950s and her struggles to make ends meet. It was a critical success and won several awards at international film festivals.

In 2006, Salvo wrote and directed 'Il Divo', a biopic on Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti. The film was a commercial and critical success, earning Salvo an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

In 2011, Salvo wrote and directed 'Terraferma', a drama about a family of Sicilian fishermen struggling to survive. The film was acclaimed by critics and won several awards at international film festivals.

In 2016, Salvo wrote and directed 'Indivisibili', a drama about twin sisters who are forced to separate after their father dies. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the Prix du Jury.

Salvo is currently working on his next feature film, 'Cosa Resta del Vento' (What Remains of the Wind). The film is about the struggle of a Sicilian teenager to deal with the death of his father.
