Sajra Subasic is a renowned Croatian film director who has become a major part of the international film industry. She is the first female to win a Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival and is known for her unique visual style.
Subasic was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1972. She studied film at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and began her career as an assistant director for television projects. In 1997, she directed her first feature film, “A Village Life” which was released in 1998. The film was well-received and became a hit in the domestic market.
In 2002, Subasic released her second feature film, “The Girl Who Lived Twice”. This film was a critical success and won several awards, including Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. Subasic was the first woman to win this prestigious award.
