BIO

Ryan Polito is an American director, writer, and producer. He has created and directed numerous television series, music videos, and films.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ryan Polito began his career in the early 1990s after graduating from the University of Colorado. With a degree in film production, he immediately began working in the television and film industry. He wrote and directed for the television series, “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and “The Amanda Show”.

In 2000, Polito wrote and directed his first feature film, “The Big Empty”. The film starred Jon Favreau and was released by Artisan Entertainment. In 2003, Polito co-wrote and directed the comedy-drama, “The Station Agent”. The film starred Peter Dinklage and won multiple awards, including the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Since then, Polito has produced and directed numerous television series, including “The Office”, “30 Rock”, “Scrubs”, and “Cougar Town”. He also directed the film, “The Skeleton Twins”, starring Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader.

Polito has directed several music videos, including “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley, and “California Gurls” by Katy Perry. In addition, Polito directed the critically acclaimed comedy, “Obvious Child”, starring Jenny Slate.

Polito is currently the executive producer and showrunner of the hit television series, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. He has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2014 and 2015.
