BIO

Ryan Douglass is an award-winning director, producer, and screenwriter. He began his career in the film industry by writing, producing and directing short films. His first feature-length film, the horror-thriller Blind, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021.

Before becoming a filmmaker, Douglass was a competitive skateboarder in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. He trained with professional skateboarders and competed in contests across the United States. Douglass took his passion for skateboarding and translated it into filmmaking.

He then moved to Los Angeles and attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to major in film production. While attending UCLA, Douglass directed several award-winning short films. His work caught the attention of Hollywood producers and directors, and he began working on bigger projects.

Douglass wrote and directed his first feature film, Blind, which was released in 2021. The film was a critical and commercial success, earning Douglass an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. It also earned him a nomination for Best Director from the Directors Guild of America.

Douglass’s work has earned him recognition from all corners of the film industry. In addition to his Oscar and DGA nominations, Douglass has won several awards for his work, including the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Grand Jury Prize at the Slamdance Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

Douglass is currently in development on several future projects. He is set to direct a drama about a young woman's journey of self-discovery for Paramount Pictures. He is also writing and directing a sci-fi adventure film for Netflix.

Douglass’s passion for storytelling and his unique visual style have made him one of the most acclaimed emerging filmmakers of his generation.
