Rimvydas Čekavičius is a Lithuanian film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1974.

He graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1995 with a degree in Film Directing. He began his career with a short film called ‘The Little Red Riding Hood’ (1996), which won several awards at international film festivals. His feature film debut was ‘The Summer of Sangaile’ (2015), which was selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Best Actress award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

He has since gone on to direct a number of successful feature films, including ‘The Summer of Aviya’ (2016), ‘The Witch’ (2017), ‘The Wolf’ (2018) and ‘The Snow Queen’ (2019). He has also worked as a screenwriter and producer on a range of projects, including ‘Vilnius’ (2017), ‘The Lost Poet’ (2018) and ‘The Burning’ (2019).

In addition to his work as a director, Rimvydas Čekavičius is also an accomplished cinematographer and editor. He has worked on a variety of projects, both in Lithuania and abroad. He has collaborated with acclaimed Lithuanian directors such as Šarūnas Bartas and Kristina Buožytė, as well as international filmmakers including Wes Anderson and Joel Coen.
