BIO

Richard Barber is a film director, producer, and screenwriter who has been creating independent films for over two decades. He has worked on a variety of projects, ranging from short films to feature films, documentaries to television series. He has received numerous awards for his work, including an Academy Award nomination for his short film, “The Gift.”

Born in 1963, Richard Barber grew up in the small town of Tipton, Indiana. He attended Purdue University, where he studied film and television production. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and began his career in the film industry. His first job was as an assistant director on the television series “Cops.”

In 1989, Barber made his directorial debut with the short film “The Gift.” The film was an instant success, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Film. After this success, he was given the opportunity to direct his first feature film, “The Splendid Isolation.” The film was a critical and commercial success, and was followed by two other features, “The Way Home” and “The Last of the Night Owls.”

In the late 1990s, Barber shifted his focus to television. He directed and produced a number of television series, including “The Outer Limits,” “The District,” and “E.R.” He also directed the Emmy-nominated miniseries “The Stand.”

In recent years, Barber has returned to filmmaking. He has directed a number of documentaries, including “The Ballad of the Three Amigos,” “The Journey of the Cameraman,” and “The Art of the Documentary.” He has also returned to feature filmmaking and directed the dramedy “The Little Things” and the horror film “The Haunting of Hill House.”
