BIO

Rex Bloomstein is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who has been making films for over 30 years. He has directed more than 30 documentaries, including two feature-length films, and has won numerous awards, including a BAFTA and an Emmy.

Rex was born and raised in London, England. He studied psychology at the University of Sussex and then went on to pursue a career in film. He began his career making music videos before moving into documentaries.

In his documentaries, Rex has covered a wide range of topics, from the political to the personal. He has explored the life of an IRA hunger striker, the daily lives of Jewish orthodox women, the struggles of a homeless person, and the experiences of a former drug addict. His films have been shown at festivals and on television around the world.

Rex has also made two feature-length films. The first, 'The Last Flight of the Red Baron', was released in 2001 and chronicles the story of Manfred von Richthofen, the legendary World War I fighter pilot. The second feature, 'The Accidental Anarchist', was released in 2006 and tells the story of Jacob Gedalyahu, a Jewish revolutionary who was exiled from Russia in the late 19th century.

In addition to his feature films, Rex has won several awards for his documentaries. In 1992, he won the BAFTA for Best Documentary for 'Behind the Veil', and in 1999 he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary for 'The Last Flight of the Red Baron'.

Rex continues to be actively involved in the documentary film community, both through his own work and as a mentor to aspiring filmmakers. He is known for his commitment to making socially relevant films that inform and inspire people. In 2013, he was awarded a fellowship from the Royal Television Society in recognition of his work.
