Pieter-Jan De Pue is an internationally acclaimed Belgian filmmaker and cinematographer. He is best known for his award-winning documentaries and short films, which explore the human experience through an intimate and creative lens.

Pieter-Jan De Pue was born in 1986 in Hasselt, Belgium. He received his degree in cinematography from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. After graduation, he traveled around the world to gain international experience in cinematography and filmmaking.

His first feature-length documentary, "The Land of the Enlightened", was released in 2016. The film follows a group of Afghan children living in the crosshairs of war. It premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize. It was also nominated for a European Film Award and a Gotham Award.

In 2018, he released his second feature-length documentary, "This Is Congo". The film follows the tumultuous lives of a group of Congolese people living in the war-torn country. It premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize for Best Documentary.

In addition to his documentary work, Pieter-Jan De Pue also makes short films and commercials. He has directed commercials for brands such as Google, Nike, and Microsoft. His short films have been featured in festivals around the world, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival.
