Peter Dietrich is an award-winning German film director and producer. He is best known for his critically acclaimed films, such as The White Ribbon, The Reader, and A Most Wanted Man, which have earned him numerous awards and nominations.

Born in 1962 in Munich, Germany, Peter Dietrich grew up in a family of filmmakers. His father was a camera operator and his mother was a script supervisor. His interest in film began at a young age, and after completing his formal education in Munich, he went on to study film in Berlin.

Dietrich first gained critical acclaim in 2003 with his film The White Ribbon, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie was a stark exploration of repression and violence in a rural German village before World War I. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In 2008, Dietrich released The Reader, a romantic drama set in post-World War II Germany. It was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Dietrich’s next major release was A Most Wanted Man, a thriller based on John le Carré’s novel of the same name. The movie starred the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and was released in 2014.

In addition to his work as a director and producer, Dietrich is also an accomplished writer and has written several novels. He also serves on the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival, and is a frequent lecturer at film schools around the world.

Dietrich’s latest film is The Man Who Knew Infinity, a biopic about Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The movie was released in 2016 and has been nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
