Karolina Bregula is an award-winning director from Poland. She is known for her thought-provoking and unique style in her films, often exploring themes of identity, faith, and sexuality.

Bregula was born in 1990 in Poland and grew up in a small village near Wroclaw. From a young age, she was drawn to the arts, particularly writing and photography. At the age of 16, she began writing and directing short films, which she continued to do while studying at the University of Warsaw.

Bregula’s feature debut was the 2018 drama ‘The Change’, which premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival. The film follows a young girl who discovers her mother’s secret past and the things that she’s been hiding from her. The film earned critical acclaim and won Best Feature Film at the Koszalin International Film Festival.

Bregula’s second feature film was 2019’s ‘The Queen of Fear’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The film follows a young woman who is struggling to come to terms with her own identity and sexuality. It earned several awards, including Best Feature Film at the Molodist Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Film at the European Film Awards.

In 2020, Bregula directed the documentary ‘My Father’s War’, which follows a group of Polish World War II veterans who are struggling to come to terms with their past. The film earned Bregula Best Director at the Krakow Film Festival and Best Documentary at the Gdynia Film Festival.
