Christian Cerami is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed films The Grey Zone (2001), Love on the Rocks (2006), and The Stray (2010).
Born in New Jersey, Cerami graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts in 1994. After college, he worked as an assistant director for television shows before making his directorial debut with the short film The Grey Zone in 2001. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film.
Cerami’s feature film debut was Love on the Rocks in 2006. The romantic comedy starred Academy Award-nominated actor Jack Black as a man who gives up everything to pursue the woman of his dreams. The film earned Cerami an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
In 2010, Cerami released his third feature film, The Stray. The film follows a father and son on a road trip across the Midwest. The movie earned rave reviews from critics and was nominated for several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Cerami’s most recent work has been producing television shows and movies. He has produced shows for HBO, Showtime, and Fox, including the Emmy Award-winning show The Wire. He also produced the feature film A Case of You in 2013.
