Tara Fallaux is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. She was born in 1977 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and started her career in the film industry in 2001.
Fallaux began her career in the Dutch film industry by writing and directing short films. Her first film, "The Show", was an experimental piece which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2002. She followed this up with her feature-length debut, "The Color of the Heart", which won the prestigious Golden Calf Award for best feature film at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2005.
In 2006, Fallaux directed her first English-language film, "Two Strangers". The film was a romantic drama which starred Gemma Arterton and Rufus Sewell and received critical acclaim. Following this success, Fallaux returned to the Netherlands to direct the award-winning "The Best of Times" (2007). This film was a drama focusing on a Dutch family's struggles in the aftermath of the Second World War.
In 2010, Fallaux wrote and directed "The Dream of a Forest", a fantasy story about a young girl's search for her missing father. The film was nominated for three Dutch Film Awards, and was also selected for the Berlin International Film Festival.
In 2012, Fallaux directed her first international feature film, "Spin". The film starred Famke Janssen and was set in the world of professional cycling. It was a critical and commercial success and was nominated for Best Feature Film at the European Film Awards.
In 2015, Fallaux wrote and directed "The Secret of the Universe", a romantic drama starring Dutch actress Carice van Houten. The film was critically acclaimed and won the Golden Film Award at the Netherlands Film Festival.
Since then, Fallaux has focused on writing and directing television series. She has worked on various Dutch series, as well as the Netflix series "The Valhalla Murders" (2020).
Tara Fallaux is considered one of the most talented and innovative directors in the Dutch film industry. Her films have been praised for their visual flair and their ability to tackle difficult and complex topics. She has won numerous awards and nominations for her work, and continues to work on both feature films and television series.
