BIO

Randy Murray is an award-winning Canadian documentary filmmaker and television producer. He is best known for directing and producing the critically acclaimed feature documentary, “The World Before Her” (2012).

Randy Murray was born in Montreal, Quebec. He grew up in a family of filmmakers, which inspired him to become a director and producer. He studied at Ryerson University, where he earned his BFA in Film Production.

Murray began his film career in the late 1990s, directing and producing short films and documentaries. His first feature-length documentary, “The World Before Her” (2012), won critical acclaim and several awards, including the Genie Award for Best Feature Documentary. It aired on the CBC's Documentary Channel and was released in theatres across Canada.

In 2013, Murray produced and directed his second feature documentary, “Invisible Essence: The Little Prince”. The film tells the story of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of the beloved book “The Little Prince”.

Murray has also produced and directed several television series, including the CBC series “Interrupt This Program” (2015-2017) and “Workin’ Moms” (2017-present). He also directed the documentary series “Reel Injun” (2009) and “The Nature of Things” (2013).

In addition to his directing and producing work, Murray has taught filmmaking at Ryerson University, Humber College, and York University. He has also been a guest speaker at various film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
