Emma Davie is an award-winning filmmaker and director. She is best known for her work in documentaries, short films, and feature films.
Born in Scotland in 1968, Emma Davie was raised in Edinburgh and attended the University of Glasgow, where she studied philosophy and political science. After graduating, she moved to London to pursue a career in journalism. She worked for several years as a reporter and producer for the BBC before turning her attention to filmmaking.
Davie's first feature film, I Am Breathing (2013), premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film tells the story of Neil Platt, a man who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and had to face the reality of his impending death. The film was well-received and won numerous awards, including the BAFTA Scotland for Best Documentary.
Davie's next feature film, The Last Polar Bear (2017), explores the effects of climate change on a small village in Greenland. The film was an official selection at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, and won the Grand Prix at the Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal.
In addition to her feature films, Davie has directed a number of acclaimed documentaries and short films.
