BIO

Pascal-Alex Vincent is a French filmmaker and visual artist. He was born in the northern French city of Lille in 1980. He graduated from the University of Paris VIII in 2003 and started his career as a video editor.

Vincent quickly moved into directing, with his first short film, "La Nuit des As", winning several awards at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. His first feature film, "Les Enfants de Timpelbach”, was released in 2008 and received critical acclaim. He followed this up with the horror film “Deep in the Woods” in 2010.

Vincent is best known for his 2012 film “Une place sur la terre”, which won the César Award for Best First Feature Film. The film tells the story of a young couple who, after their marriage, must confront the consequences of their decision to live in the countryside.

Since then, Vincent has directed several television films and series, including the mini-series “La rivière des secrets”. He has also directed several music videos, including those for M83's “Claudia Lewis” and “Wait”, and for Maud Lübeck's “L'Aube du lendemain”.

Vincent's work has been featured in numerous international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival. He has also won numerous awards, including the Prix Louis Delluc for Best First Feature Film in 2013.

Vincent's latest film, “The House by the Sea”, was released in 2017 and was nominated for the César Award for Best Film. The film is a dark comedy that follows a family living in a small fishing village in France.
