BIO

Osmo Lampinen (b.1940) is a renowned Finnish film director and producer. He is best known for his work on the popular TV series Salatut elämät (Secret Lives) and the film Häjyt (The Fencer).

Lampinen started his career in the early 1960s, working as an assistant director in several theatre productions. He then moved to the film industry and worked as an editor, production manager and assistant director in several Finnish feature films.

In 1969, Lampinen made his debut as the director of the feature film Kalle ja kate (Kalle and Kate). The film was a critical success and won several awards, including the prestigious Jussi Award for Best Film.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Lampinen directed several feature films, including the critically acclaimed Häjyt (The Fencer, 1982). The film was a huge success in Finland, and it won five Jussi Awards, including Best Film.

In the 1990s, Lampinen directed several TV series, including the hugely popular Salatut elämät (Secret Lives). The series was a huge ratings success, and it ran for fifteen seasons until 2018.

In 2010, Lampinen wrote and directed the feature film Paha perhe (Bad Family). The film was a box office success and it won several awards, including the Jussi Award for Best Film.

Lampinen has been the recipient of several awards, including the Order of the White Rose of Finland, the highest civilian honor in Finland. In addition, he has been the recipient of several honorary doctorates from various universities.

Today, Lampinen continues to work in the film industry in Finland. He is currently developing several new projects, including a feature film about the life of composer Jean Sibelius.
