Nontawat Numbenchapol is a Thai film director and screenwriter known for his acclaimed feature films, such as "By the Time It Gets Dark" (2016), "Trap" (2017) and "The Second Life of Thieves" (2017).

Nontawat was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 24, 1982. He studied film and media production at the College of Arts, Media, and Technology at Thammasat University. After graduation, he worked as a photographer and freelance filmmaker.

In 2011, Nontawat made his feature film debut with "Recycle" (2011). The film was praised for its unique visual style and was nominated for several awards, including the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

In 2016, Nontawat released his second feature film, "By the Time It Gets Dark" (2016). The film follows a young woman's search for her identity and her relationship to politics, religion, and culture in Thailand.
