Nicolás Echevarría is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work on films like Amores Perros, Y tu mamá también, and El Crimen del Padre Amaro. He has been nominated for several prestigious awards, including three Ariel Awards, the Mexican equivalent of the Academy Awards.

Echevarría was born in Mexico City in 1967. He studied communication and film at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He then attended the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, where he studied film production and directing.

Echevarría’s directorial debut was the feature film Amores Perros in 2000. The film was a critical and commercial success, earning him international recognition and several awards.
