Neil Cole is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in the horror genre, such as his cult classic, Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead.

Neil was born in 1964 in Pennsylvania and grew up in the rural town of Perryopolis. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied film and television production. After graduating, Neil moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film.

Neil's first project was a low-budget horror film, The Evil Dead, which he wrote, directed, and co-produced. The film was made on a shoestring budget of just $350,000, but it became a cult classic, grossing $2.4 million in the United States and spawning two sequels. The Evil Dead also earned Neil three Saturn Awards, including one for Best Horror Film.

After The Evil Dead, Neil went on to direct several more horror movies, such as The People Under the Stairs, Army of Darkness, and the remake of The Wicker Man. He also directed the psychological thriller Hide and Seek, as well as the children's fantasy film The Magic School Bus.

In addition to his work in film, Neil has also directed several television shows, such as the supernatural drama Charmed, the crime drama The Closer, and the science fiction show The X-Files.

Neil has also produced several feature films, such as the horror comedy Slither and the Oscar-nominated drama The Wrestler.

Throughout his career, Neil has earned praise for his ability to create suspenseful and compelling visuals. His films are often characterized by a distinct visual style that combines elements of horror, fantasy, and science fiction.

In addition to his work in film and television, Neil has also been involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors. He has served as a board member for the Film Independent organization, which provides grants and support to independent filmmakers. He has also been active in supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has served as a mentor for the Sundance Institute's Native American Filmmaking Workshop.

Neil lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. He continues to be a prolific filmmaker, with several new projects in the works.
