Nathalie Marcault began her professional life as a journalist before discovering documentary cinema during an internship at the Ateliers Varan. This formative experience marked a decisive turning point in her career, leading her to embrace documentary filmmaking as her primary creative practice.
She is an active member of the association of film directors in the Bretagne region, where she served as co president for two years. Alongside her filmmaking work, she teaches Fine Arts and Performing Arts at the University of Rennes. She has also worked as a reader for several public funding bodies and regularly mentors emerging filmmakers, supporting young authors in the development and writing of documentary film projects.
Marcault’s practice combines artistic creation, pedagogy and professional engagement within the documentary field, reflecting a sustained commitment to both filmmaking and the transmission of knowledge.
