Mohannad Eissa is an award-winning director from Egypt. He was born in 1983 in Cairo and has since established himself as one of the most promising directors in the Middle East.

Eissa’s love of filmmaking began at an early age when he started to make short films with his friends. After completing his degree in Mass Communications from the American University in Cairo, he went on to study filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.

Upon returning to Egypt, Eissa immediately began working in the film industry. His first feature-length film, ‘The Kite’, was released in 2008 and was an instant success. The film was nominated for several awards and won Best Feature Film at the El Gouna Film Festival.

Since then, Eissa has gone on to direct several more films and documentaries. These include ‘My Name Is Salma’ (2011), ‘A Day for Women’ (2015), ‘The Nile Hilton Incident’ (2017) and ‘A Thousand Times Good Night’ (2018).

Eissa’s films have been praised for their honest and authentic portrayals of life in the Middle East. He has a unique ability to capture the complex and often difficult issues that people face in the region and is known for his compassion and empathy.

Eissa is also an advocate for social justice and activism. In 2018, he was awarded the Human Rights Award from the Egyptian Ministry of Justice for his work in highlighting human rights issues.

Eissa continues to make meaningful and powerful films that challenge the status quo. He is determined to bring the stories of the Middle East to the world and to inspire positive change.
