BIO

Michael Watchulonis is an award-winning director of feature films, television series, commercials, music videos, and documentaries. He has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, and Will Smith.

Born in New York City in 1974, Michael began his career in the entertainment industry as a Production Assistant for the Independent Film Channel. He quickly moved up the ranks and eventually worked as a Line Producer and Production Manager for several award-winning films. In 1998, he made his directorial debut with the feature film, “The War at Home”, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Since then, Michael has directed over 20 feature films, television series, and documentaries. His films have been screened in festivals around the world, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Film Festival. He has won multiple awards for his work, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, the Peabody Award, and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Nonfiction Program.

Michael’s most recent feature film, “The Righteous” (2017), was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The film tells the story of a young man who is falsely accused of murder and must fight for his innocence.
