Michael Grecco is a celebrated American photographer, director and entrepreneur. Born in 1962 in Los Angeles, California, Michael began his career in photography in 1980 when he was just eighteen. After enrolling in college and taking a photography course, Michael started out as a freelance photographer for magazines and newspapers. He quickly developed a keen eye and an impressive portfolio, which led to him being hired as a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times in 1982.
Michael then moved to New York City in 1984, where he began shooting for commercial clients, including some of the leading brands in the world. He also specialised in portraiture and fashion photography, and his work was published in publications such as GQ, The New York Times Magazine, and Vanity Fair. In the late 1980s, he made the move to directing, and developed a unique style of combining photography and video. His directorial debut was for the music video ‘Like a Prayer’ by Madonna.
Michael has since gone on to direct over 500 commercials, music videos and short films. He has been nominated for several awards, including an Emmy in 2002 for the Nike Commercial, ‘Revolution’. His work has earned him critical acclaim, being named one of the world’s top directors by Creativity Magazine in 2005. He has also been recognised for his achievements with numerous acknowledgements from various industry bodies and organisations.
In addition to his work as a director and photographer, Michael is also an entrepreneur. He founded the production company, Michael Grecco Productions, in 1996, which produces films, documentaries and television series. He also runs the digital media company, Photographers in Motion, which provides digital media services and production for the entertainment industry.
Michael is an avid philanthropist, and has been involved in numerous charitable projects over the years, including the Children’s Miracle Network, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the American Red Cross. He also serves on the boards of a number of organisations, including the American Society of Media Photographers.
