BIO

Michael Gillis is an award-winning director, producer, and writer known for his work in television and film. He was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1968.

Gillis began his career in the entertainment industry after attending the Vancouver Film School. His first job was as an assistant director on the film, “The Sweet Hereafter.” From there, he went on to become a production assistant on the TV series, “Stargate SG-1.”

Gillis’s first major directing job was for the television series, “The Dead Zone.” He was the director for more than ten episodes of the show. He then went on to direct for a variety of other television shows, including “Smallville,” “Tru Calling,” and “Flashpoint.”

In 2010, Gillis directed and wrote his first feature film, “The Uninvited.” The film was a critical and commercial success, earning him a Genie Award for Best Achievement in Direction.

Gillis went on to direct and write two more feature films, “The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh” and “The Void.” Both films were well-received by critics and audiences alike.

In 2017, Gillis wrote and directed the television series, “Van Helsing.” The show was a hit with fans, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography.

Gillis continues to work in the entertainment industry. He recently wrote and directed the television series, “The Order.”
