Mauro Lima is a Brazilian film director, screenwriter and producer known for his work in films such as “Hard Times” and “The Way He Looks”. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began his film career as an assistant director in the early 1980s.

He graduated from the Federal Fluminense University in Rio de Janeiro with a degree in film directing. After a few years of working as an assistant, he made his directorial debut in 1992 with the movie “O Último Verão”. The movie was well-received by critics and was a commercial success.

Mauro then went on to direct the romantic comedy “Amor à Primeira Vista” in 1996. The movie was a hit and won several awards. After this success, he directed the drama “Hard Times” in 1997. The movie was a critical and commercial success and won several awards including the Grand Prize of the Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival.
